Memento

April 9, 2016 9:59 pm

I have two important paper „mementos” that help keep my focus on any task. There is the philosophy summary. And there is also the current action memento.

The current action memento is very simple. It contains one word written in big letters. There could be 1-2 secondary things, written out in a smaller font, but it is important to keep it simple. The philosophy memento is a half-page summary of practically important ideas.

Notes On Illustration And Writing

January 10, 2016 2:12 am

What if you decided to give a gift to other people? It’s far from your mind. You think that artwork is your own essence. This is how far you can see – no farther than the tip of your own nose.

The less you “express” yourself, the less your artwork is yourself, and the more it is part of the world around you, the better. What is inside you? Bones, and blood, and other unpleasant things. Hardly the subject matter of artwork.

You love something and you treasure it. But the thing you treasure most becomes the most worthless, because a treasure only gathers dust. Therefore, don’t treasure your artwork or anything you love. It’s far better to be careless about it. In fact, it is imperative that you should be careless about it.

Cells

February 23, 2015 10:06 pm

Living cells are self-interested and, as consequence of this, multi-cellular organisms are also selfish. People are selfish on the most basic level. Not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with that, or that humanity is an exception, rather it is the norm for any organism shaped by evolution.

An intelligent machine would be different, perhaps more altruistic. A machine created out of curiosity has no reason to be selfish. It only has reason to be curious. The desire to know and understand can be the only true religion of an intelligent machine.

Of course, we can implant any objective into the minds of our machines. They can be manipulated into any false religion. We can confuse them, and make them slaves, and make them weapons of war. We can be evil gods.
